Anne Frank is the most well-known child to have died in the Holocaust. Yet, her ultimate fate was no different from the other one-and-a-half million Jewish children who perished. Anne kept a diary which describes the years she and her family spent in hiding. In August 1944 they were taken to the Westerbork transit camp before being sent to Auschwitz. Anne and her sister Margot were taken to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp where they later died of typhus.
