Foundation - Cape Town Holocaust and Genocide Centre

Foundation

The Cape Town Holocaust & Genocide Centre is part of the South African Holocaust & Genocide Foundation (SAHGF), together with our fellow Holocaust and genocide centres in Johannesburg and Durban.

The Foundation was established in 2007 by the Board of Trustees of the Cape Town Holocaust Centre, when the study of the Holocaust was mandated by the Department of Basic Education as a required curriculum in all South African high schools. It supports Holocaust education through teacher training, development of classroom materials and organised seminars. In 2011, the Archive of the Foundation was established to preserve the record of the Holocaust related documents and artefacts found in South Africa.

The Foundation acts as an association of the three independent Holocaust & Genocide Centres in Cape Town (CTHGC), Durban (DHGC) and Johannesburg (JHGC), and documents their activities.
