Beverley Cohen was born in Cape Town and her background is in education. She studied at UNISA and UCT where she obtained her Bachelors Degree and Post Graduate qualifications. Her career included teaching at Dafna, Herzlia, the Hebrew Academy and serving as principal of Saplings Remedial School.

While her son was at Herzlia, she was involved with the school PTA and several fundraising projects. She is on the committee of the Kensington Educare Centre where she initiated a successful protein project to provide a balanced diet for the young learners.

Beverley has been involved with the CTHGC as a volunteer in the education programme for over ten years.
