Milton Shain is Professor Emeritus of Historical Studies at the University of Cape Town and the former Director of the Isaac and Jessie Kaplan Centre for Jewish Studies and Research. He has written and edited thirteen books, including The Roots of Antisemitism in South Africa and A Perfect Storm: Antisemitism in South Africa 1930-1948, which won the Recht Malan Prize for English and Afrikaans Non-Fiction for 2016. Most recently he co-edited with Christopher Browning, Michael Marrus and Susannah Heschel, Holocaust Scholarship: Personal Trajectories and Professional Interpretations. In 2014, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of South Africa.
