Pesla Lis was born in Koszyce, Poland, in 1915. She worked as a bookkeeper and secretary before being sent to the Prokocim labour camp and then going into hiding in Poland. After being liberated in Slomniki in 1945, she lived in Krakow, before moving to Rhodesia, and later to Cape Town in 1976. She passed away in 2014 and is greatly missed by her loving family and many friends in the community.
