Mendi Soffer was born in Galatz, Romania, in 1928. He spent the war years in Bucharest under General Antonescu's regime. After the War, he spent time in numerous Displaced Persons Camps. He moved to South Africa in 1950. He passed away in 2010. He is sorely missed by his three beloved children, other family members and his many friends in the Cape Town Jewish community.
